Greetings to one and all!!!!

To all my dear friends of ROM,

I do say so sorry for the infrequencies of my self titled infrequent Blogs. Hope you are all doing well and had a wonderful Holiday Season. I cannot beleive  we are already into ROM -2012 and that ROM -2011 and all around just seemed to fly by!!!!

WE had a FABULOUS ROM ANNIVERSARY SHOW on our first show for 2012. Our incredible feature was a first ever, ALL PERCUSSION FEATURE  called The Ken Porter Percusiion Experience lead by our very own ROM house percusssion and all around everything else guy, Ken Porter. My thanks to Ken and  the fantastic percusssion group he put together of, Rob Norberg, Chris Grant, Tom Symancyk, Mike Delaney, (Ken invited entire audience participation), FUN!!
I must say there was one woman on stage and I wish to thank her but I do not know her name. If anyone does, please let me know!!!! Ken even allowed me to try out my own new Djembe, as well as a multicolored slinky-like devise and a Paper bag. I must tell you, I have had several emails telling me I play a mean paper bag!!! My thanks to one and all for that and for Ken to show me the way to different means of percussion!!!

Please come to ROM this Monday, we have a wonderful surprise coming all the way back from Asheville N.C. with Chris Wilhelm and his musical partner Liam McKay. It will be the Official CD Releasae party for the new Chris Wilhelm CD called, "Just Asking". For those of you that  may not know Chris he was the very first person to know of me thinking ofmy idea of ROM and was our fearture in the same slot (2nd of the year) in 2009.

A MUST SEE SHOW FOR TOMORROW

I do want to remind you of a very wonderful show tomorrow which will be held at Chris Gerstner's Fireside Coffeehouse in Norwood. I just added her website among the links for any info you may wish. It will be an incredible show as the features are, The incomprable, Ellen Schmidt & her musical partner of 21 years Jake Kensinger more commonly know as "Two For The Show". The idea behind this venue is it is all duo's and trio's if you would like to sign up with Chris for TOMORROW please contact Chris at: firesidecoffeehouse@gmail.com

Also speaking of Ellen Schmidt, on Monday our very our ROMulin Branson Bofat will be doing the Mini Feature at Ellen's wonderful venue called Emerson Umbrella. Please see all of Ellen's many Venues on her link as well. I will say Branson, we will all miss you but we ALL understand we can only be at one place at a time. I know you will rock the house at the Umbrella.

I am going to leave it there for now. WE have an incredible year ahead of us for 2012. In the area's we we have the 5th Monday's of the month called "Ceilidh" it is something new I am planning to try. It will be at ROM but we will have NO Feature and will be,as Mike told me that word means "Song Circle in Gaelic. Eric Clapton might call it, "ROM Unplugged". WE will have some refreshments and there will be no charge as always. it is just something I would like to try at the request of several folks and I do want to attempt to invite you all to join us. I would also like to  as my dear friend, Tony Toledo and Cheryl Perreault might say, lets try and ge the many to come with spoken word in in hand and "Speak out" and "Wake up and Smell the Poetry" I am looking for any help and direction with this new idea so it will be, a work in progress. To our many spoken word/poets, artisits, I will hope you will come with script in hand and we can do a great mixture of acoustic music with spoken word at our new ROM Ceilidh. The first one will be on 1-30-12, C ya all Monday at ROM,

Always, Neal :)))

  1. Its always a pleasure to hear what Neil has to say, frequent or not! Neil, words cannot express how much I appreciate your kindness, dedication, shining spirit and smile that are always evident, whether at open mic or on the blog. You always give me reason to smile and be glad, and I'm sure many others would agree... Big hugs- the not-so-anonymous Denise :))))

  2. Bear and I often went to a Ceilidh in Scituate and it was a nice way to play along with other people or hear a story or poem. I am coming to read one of my poems or lyrics.
