Greeting Dear Friends,
Wow, where did ROM-2012 go?? It seemed as if we were just starting and we now can say a HUGE Thank you to All Our Feature Performers, All our Open Mike Community (AKA ROMulins), and ALL that come to enjoy the Community that YOU ALL have made ROM become!!!
As you all know well by now, My Blogs are very Infrequent! So consider that lucky on your part as I never stop talking!! Since my last Blog we did have our ROM-2012 Grand Finale Show, (what a blast) with the dear and wonderful, M.F. Daisy as our ROM-2012 Closer. What a wonderful show MF and our thanks to you and to ALL that showed up for your most memorable way to end our calendar year!!!
ROM-2013
I must say ROM-2013 for the first time in 5 years, actually began outside our usual Venue.
On 1-6-13, The Emerson Umbrella Open Mike in Concord Ma. Opened OUR 2013 season with ROM Night at Emerson Umbrella. This was a most incredible Venue which combined so many of the Umbrella Community along with a wonderful number of ROMulins together ALL for ONE Cause under one roof. That cause was to continue our Fundraising efforts to make Our Home to ROM, The Roslindale Congregational Church, ( a building in the National Registry of Historic Buildings), "Handicapped Accessible".
Our dear friends that so many of you know, Ellen Schmidt along with her dear partner of 25 years in music Jake Kensinger opened their hearts to OUR cause and what a fabulous night was had by ALL.
I do want to thank each and every one of you that attended this incredible event for your gifting us with not only your presence but also with your generosity toward the Church Fundraiser. The Church Members, The Board and their Minister, The Rev. Branwen Cook thank you ALL so much for ALL you did and are continuing to do for Roslindale Congregational Church and it's effort to make this building, Accessible to ALL!!!!
There have been some folks that were unable to make the show at Emerson Umbrella but the Fundraiser continues. I do want to shout out and thanks of course the 2 folks without whom the night at Emerson would not have been so successful as they were there doing All the sound, lighting, stage prep and of course some great picture taking the wonderful Mark Hastings and Dan Tappan. You guys are AWESOME!!
I would also like to thank our wonderful friends Dan & Faith Senie for placing their "Live at Roslindale CD on sale at this Event and gave ALL funds collected toward this Fundraiser!!
Lastly on this wonderful event, Our Features for this evening that totally lit up the stage. MY thanks go out to my dear Host of Roslindale Open Mike Mike Delaney & Ken Porter (who is our do everything guy at ROM), as well as Mike's Musical partner for many years for their wonderful part of the Fundraiser Feature and then of course MY thanks to Ellen Schmidt & Jake Kensinger who as many of you know together are called "Two for the Show", for being the second half of this fabulous double feature night and reason this ALL happened!!!
By the way, did I mention that "Two for the Show will be our very next feature at Roslindale Open Mike one week from tomorrow on 1-28-13. If you have never yet been to ROM, this is a great reason to be with us to see these two dear friends & very dear people to ALL be our feature at Roslindale Open Mike, as some local guy may say, "Come on down, to ROM"!!
We just had our fabulous 4th Anniversary Show at ROM and what a show it was. OUR Feature for OUR ROM-2013 Anniversary Show was none other than our very Host of ROM, my dear friend and partner in this thing we call ROM, Mike Delaney!!! It was also Mike's CD Release Party for his brand new and incredible CD called Boston Harbor: No Longer Dirty Water. WE had a fabulous crowd of YOU, we had Mike do an incredible feature set along with Barry Spiro, Ken Porter, Bill Duncan and I did sneak into one of the songs as well playing my "Infrequent Harp".
Thanks to King Yee to as many of you know does video many of our features but on this night King had 3 different camera's going for Mike's feature. King is such a dear friend and a dear friend and Supporter to ROM. I feel very honored that not only did we go to the same Boston English High School, but here we are a few years down the line still together and hanging out.
As only Mike Delaney would do at his newest CD Release Party he told all in the audience that he wanted everyone to go home with a copy of the CD and was asking for a 10 dollar donation BUT, ALL Mike collected at his Feature from the sales of his CD as well as the Pass the (Not hat), cos it's a Bucket, he was donating ALL to the Church Fundraiser!!!

I am running my mouth again I know, I do want to thank very quickly Patricia Nedder for making All the delicious foods in bulk that she made from scratch!! It was simply delicious Patricia and also a thank you to Junko Ogawa for bringing the "Healthy Food" to ROM in the Delicious Fruits Junko brings as well as being such wonderful part of ROM. I must also say a thanks to Steve freedman whom many of you know as the person so many of you recorded your CD's with. Well Steve the owner and audio whiz that he is, has graced us at ROM now through these years and at each ROM event Steve records YOU live at ROM should you want a copy of your performance please do see Steve after or during the show & he will produce a very high quality CD/MP3 at his Melville Park Studio. www.melvillepark.com Thanks Steve!!!
Before I end by thanking you ALL for ALL your support and telling All your friends and Family and other Artists about ROM, I did want to mention we have a Fabulous upcoming Feature on 1-28-13 with "Two For The Show" yes that right, Ellen Schmidt and Jake Kensinger will be OUR next feature at ROM.
( I may have possibly already mentioned that!?)
Mike & I have a wonderful ROM-2013 planned for ALL of us to enjoy with incredible Features, Yes but please ALWAYS remember, YOU are the Reason we are ROM and will help continue to mold and change all we do to make it better every year and every show!!!
